“Blend” is a dialogue between art forms from two continents: ‘Classical’ Western music and ‘Classical’ South Indian dance. It brings together compositions of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Reinhold Glière, and Heinrich Schmelzer, through Violin and Cello music and Bharatanāṭyam dance. Blend unveils a deep cultural and emotional connection between the East and the West. It is a narrative, taking the viewer on a journey of a Nāyika (heroine), who is in love with her beloved. The above is an excerpt from 'Blend' - an adaptation of Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 5.
